I have worked in corporate America with a Fortune 300 Company for over 30 years, providing me a wide range of experiences in accounting, finance, economics, and marketing.

I have learned the best way to learn is to teach. In my approach, I provide an environment where the student turns into the teacher by the end of the sessions.
My first love is to help in the area of personal finance. I have learned that with all the Corporate Accounting and Finance teaching/learning I have had, it is easy to turn the concepts into helping students (or really anyone, as most learned from family, cousins, friends, their money management skills which may be part of the problem). Why not use the concepts of corporate finance and accounting and apply to personal finance, as they are "proven" techniques, and required for Public companies.

To highlight this, I am an adjunct instructor at the University of Phoenix teaching Corporate Accounting, Corporate Finance and Personal Finance.

As a manager in the work force, and as an instructor, I have learned each employee/student is different and you have to find what turns the button on to motivate the student/employee. Each person learns differently; therefore, I try as many different ways to see what connects. There are 4 learning styles (Visual-Verbal, Visual-non verbal, Tactile-Kinesthetic, Auditory-Verbal). Which of your 5 senses do you use to learn?

This is why I like the tutoring arrangement. It offers the opportunity for 1:1 focused learning. There are times when a group is good, but this allows your student to get the added lift he/she needs to enable his/her success.

My approach is to be persistent and find the learning style, and make learning fun. A student, like an employee, learns best when self-motivated. If all I am doing is getting them to check the box, there is little long term value in that for the instructor and student.

As a father of 4, I have seen the road each of my own children have gone in their learning process. Each of them is different. I don't h

I have over 30+ years working for a Fortune 300 Company, being exposed to all parts of the business. My areas of expertise are accounting, finance, marketing, economics, business development and process improvement. I start with the philosophy of you cannot manage what you do not measure. Accounting and other metrics are important. I use these to analyze results and then to predict the future with cash flow analysis required in finance.

I have over 30+ years working for a Fortune 300 Company, being exposed to all parts of the business. My areas of expertise are accounting, finance, marketing, economics, business development and process improvement. In my working experience I must establish econometric models to evaluate the value derived from various marketing programs and, or business cases. This requires the ability to understand data, establishing a hypothesis, and then performing the study and then analyzing the data to draw conclusions about the success or failure of a project. I look forward to sharing this knowledge with students using real application vs. theory in a text book.

Marketing,

Marketing

I have over 30+ years working for a Fortune 300 Company, being exposed to all parts of the business. In my work, I promote the 8 P's of marketing, although the textbooks only talk to 4. The first two are strategy related. Who are the people you want as customers and what position do you want to compete on. You compete on cost, quality, or product differentiation. Then, it is the well known 4 P's, that I believe need to be thought through sequentially. First, it is product. What product lines up with your strategy? Then, it is the price you charge that lines up with strategy. After that, how do you plan to promote the product? Lastly, how do you plan to distribute (place) your product? The next two deal with execution. What are your policies (credit and collection dealing with the customer)? The last one is processes. How do your processes support your product? I believe with my extensive background in supporting the marketing organizations, I can share my knowledge and enable a student's success.

I recently completed the H&R Block Training and am preparing for seasonal work with them in the pursuit of it growing to other opportunities. I have always had a passion for taxes; I work to hard to earn it, and want to make sure I "avoid" but never "evade" tax liabilities. This coupled with teaching Personal Finance at the University of Phoenix illustrate my strong interest in this area. Taxes are part of the overall financial planning process, and more importantly, the personal "accounting" that I am finding most individuals do not undertake.

Amazing tutor and great teacher!

I was fighting and struggling extremely hard with my managerial accounting class so much just trying to stay in the D grade range so I wouldn't fail the course, that actually I had to drop it 3 weeks in to the semester last spring, and take it solo during the summer. After one lesson with Randy, I learned more methods and techniques to help the accuracy and performance of my test taking abilities than I had in over 3 semesters at Johnson County Community College, due to a severe lack of relevance that my tests had in conjunction with our homework and class teachings. I feel like the service he provides is worth twice as much as what he charges to share his vastly superior knowledge in this subject, and I will continue to see him up until my very last assignment in this class is complete.

Beginning accounting

I have been struggling with my beginning accounting class and needed help with getting my grade up! After only two lessons I could tell a huge difference in my understanding of accounting! I would recommend Randy to anyone who is struggling with understanding accounting! He explains the concepts in a way that is easy for someone just starting out with accounting to understand!
