I love teaching and interacting with my students. I have made multiple presentations at regional and national educators' conferences about teaching and learning, and continue to advise parents as they face the Covid Fall of 2020 with uncertainty about how best to support their children's learning.

Currently I teach full-time English, Social Studies, and test preparation in a highly-rated independent school, having also worked in diverse suburban and urban districts. Your essay is not the whole story of your application, but it can make the difference between a candidate who sounds like s/he is seeking admission to "some place," or to a special place you have researched and come to care about. Using the best practices for writing a credible, informed school or other application essay, my students have earned admission at top schools and universities, even ones that they felt were a "stretch" for them. I also coach graduate/professional school and fellowship applicants. Your essay is not the whole story of your application, but it can make the difference between a candidate who sounds like s/he is seeking admission to "some place," or to a special place you have researched and come to care about. There are several keys I'll teach you, but here's a preview of Numbers 1, 2, and 3: Research, Research, and Research. Why do you want that special school in your future? Why do you want that Engineering, Business, Liberal Arts, or other program at My First Choice University or graduate program? How have you chosen a specific transfer school or graduate program to pursue? You'll show you know what you're talking about, and distinguish yourself from many of the other applicants. I can teach you, especially if you're willing not to wait until the night before the deadline! (Okay, we help people then, too!) This process is NOT ONLY about how you write -- though that does matter! -- but about what you know before you try to express it. College applicants: Let's get started as early as possible, even in your junior year if you seek thoughtful advice on exploring and choosing schools. Last minute? Yes, we can do that, too -- but don't do it again! Fear not! EXCEPT for all the excess standardized testing that has grown up around the Common Core, what it's really about is a positive thing. More classrooms are incorporating more analytical thinking, challenging reading, and advanced communication skills in English Language Arts as a result of the Common Core. This doesn't mean the Core is easy for all teachers and students. As an award-winning former teacher of Grades 4 through high school, and a former school Principal, I have lived the Common Core along with you and am prepared to support your child's confidence and skill development to meet its challenges.

I highly recommend Dr.Robert

Robert is a one of a kind teacher you can find. His passion for teaching showed even during our first conversation. I initially approached him to look for a tutor for my 10 year old son. He noticed my needs to improve my own English skills, and invited me to start a book club. I am interested in American history. So we started with” The Soul of America” by Jon Meacham. This is a tough book for me. But I was able to really enjoy the book because he very patiently explained the information in vivid details. He also introduced other great resources that fit my interests, such as several DK reference books and good websites that engaged me. Robert also noticed my interest and nourished my curiosity in American language and culture; as a full time medical doctor, I keep encountering small examples of things that confuse me or that I wonder about, and Robert loved bringing my real-world situations into our lesson. He respected and cared about me as a person and as a professional while also being my teacher. He was also always anxious to learn from me and my experiences as a parent, an immigrant, and a physician working on the front lines in a very challenging medical climate. These conversations, beyond just the reading, helped build my comfort and confidence as a speaker, writer, and departmental leader. I highly recommend him!

I needed help with the Graduate Admission process. I currently have a Bachelor's degree, and my goal has been to get accepted into a Ph.D. program.
