I have twenty-eight of experience teaching E.S.L. to students from all levels and from all types of backgrounds. During the last year, I have taught E.S.L. to students specifically in the Latin American and European community needing to perfect their English. I have taught at schools such as Zoni Language School and Berlitz. I also have extensive experience teaching E.S.L. at several colleges and universities. At Shepherd University I helped around two hundred students perfect their college-level English. This E.S.O.L. class was meant to help foreign born students develop a high enough level of English skill to take undergraduate classes, work in hospitals or pursue higher degree work. In my eight years working for Cal-America University and American Vocational College, I taught TOEFL (The Test of English as a Foreign Language) for four years. I helped students prepare for the Reading, Writing, Grammar and Speaking section. I also have worked extensively in corporate language instruction for executives. I have a fun and easy to understand method which is usually very quick in bringing students to a good conversational level. I feature fun interactive video and computer based lessons in addition to a conversation technique and intensive reading and writing exercises. Themes in my E.S.0.L class are: Work-related English (for your industry), Transportation/Travel English and Basic Conversational English. Basic Conversational English classes are given in: Shopping for Food/Clothes, Speaking Restaurant English, Getting the Bus/Taxi, Introducing Yourself, Talking about Entertainment and Talking about your Family/Job. Special on-the-spot correction, pronunciation and accent reduction classes are included. References given upon request.

I have a specialization in Reading Comprehension for the S.A.T. and Test of English as a Foreign Language (T.O.E.F.L.). Through my experience teaching these courses at several colleges, universities and high schools, I have created a simple and straight forward strategy for taking apart reading material and applying critical thinking skills to each question. I was the head of the S.A.T. preparation department at the Sponsors for Educational Opportunity in New York. I was also the head of the T.O.E.F.L. examination at Shepherd University and Cal-America College in Los Angeles. This included giving classes in college-advanced-level Reading (among several other sections in the exam.) I enjoy working with students and helping them improve their Reading comprehension skills; but, most of all, I enjoy demystifying the reading process and turning into something that students look forward to doing and enjoy.

Through Berlitz International, I taught at Patek Phillipe, Mitsubishi and Sony. I always had a very high rating and students were always very pleased with their classes.  I was also the head of the French language department for a non-for profit after school learning program called The Sponsors for Educational Opportunity. Through this program, I gave language classes to over two hundred students from all levels from beginning to advanced.  I have a fun and easy to understand method which is usually very quick in bringing students to a good conversational level. I feature fun interactive video and computer based lessons in addition to an easy conversation technique and intensive reading and writing exercises.  Themes in my class are: Work related French (per your industry), Transportation/Travel French and Basic Conversational French.  Basic Conversational French Classes are given in: Shopping for Food/Clothes, Speaking Restaurant French, Getting the Bus/Taxi, Introducing Yourself, Talking about Entertainment and Talking about your Family/Job.  Special on-the-spot correction, pronunciation and accent reduction classes are included.
Reading,

Reading

Test Preparation

SAT Reading,

SAT Reading

For eight years, I helped over five hundred High School students prepare for the S.A.T from both Norman Thomas High School and Washington Irving High School. I was the head of Sponsors for Educational Opportunity's S.A.T. department in New York. I specialize in teaching both Reading and Writing. I will give you both the breakdown for the types of reading, questions and techniques will need to successfully tackle the Reading section of the S.A.T. I was also the head of E.T.S. approved testing centers at Cal-America College and Shepherd University in Los Angeles. Let me teach you the best methods to feel more confident and beat the test.
TOEFL,

TOEFL

In my eight years working for Cal-America University, Shepherd University and American Vocational College, I taught TOEFL (The Test of English as a Foreign Language) for four years. I helped students prepare for the Reading, Writing, Grammar and Speaking sections. My average TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) improvement rating was always very high and students generally graduated in two months. After this time, they had the necessary scores to enter to schools such as Santa Monica College, UCLA and University of Southern California.

Really good teacher. Feels like you are learning from the very first second to the end.

Maurice is teaching me how to pronounce correctly and I will also be able to understand others better. He is great. Love his style and the way he explains everything. Just awesome.

Fantastic!!

My son instantly connected with Maurice and recognized the enormous help he has to offer. Having to deal with an AP English course as well as preparations for the upcoming SAT exams, Maurice jumped right in and made my son feel more confident and comfortable with both. His AP English grade went up within one meeting with Maurice.
