I have a master's in epidemiology and a professional degree in doctor of veterinary medicine (DVM). I am passionate about finding innovative solutions to combat multidrug-resistant enteric and foodborne infections using modern molecular, epidemiologic, and bioinformatics tools.

Besides my research obligations, I love to teach students basic and advanced concepts of epidemiology, microbiology, genetics, and biostatistics. I have more than five years of experience in teaching the above-mentioned science subjects. I believe teaching is not just transferring knowledge; it's about making others capable of understanding and translating knowledge. I am here to facilitate and empower students to acquire their academic and professional goals by grasping concepts and skills related to multiple science subjects.

In the last few years, I have taught multiple sciences subjects to students with different academic backgrounds both at class and individual levels. I have mentored many undergraduate students in the lab while performing research projects. I always try first to understand students' learning goals and challenges about the subject matter and then tutor them accordingly.

Additionally, I have done many multi-disciplinary research projects; I learned how to apply knowledge to identify and solve a problem or translate scientific knowledge and skills into a product. Having both teaching and research experience helps me give students a practical and in-depth insight into science subjects.
Science is all about questioning and reasoning.

If you have questions or difficulty understanding the subject, then don't hesitate to contact me. Together we will address all queries and master all concepts.

Epidemiology

I am currently a Ph.D. candidate specializing in Molecular Epidemiology, Microbiology, and Molecular Genetics, studying infectious diseases. I also have a master's degree in epidemiology with distinction and more than five years of experience in teaching. I got experience in teaching various undergraduate and graduate epidemiology courses such as introduction to epidemiology, infectious diseases epidemiology, study designs and research methods, molecular epidemiology, and outbreak investigations. Recently, I have tutored many students taking different MPH courses like PubH 6003 (Principles and Practice of Epidemiology). I have taught students individually, in small groups, and in a whole-class format in person. I recently tutored students virtually using digital teaching platforms and got an excellent experience of teaching a diverse group of students during this pandemic. In addition to teaching, I have a vast experience in research. My thesis research project was on infectious diseases, particularly foodborne outbreaks investigations in the USA, using a national-level dataset of almost three decades that has been published in a prestigious peer-reviewed journal. This academic and research training empowered me to translate knowledge and skills to others more confidently. I have mentored a couple of undergraduate students during my Ph.D. program and trained them to design different epidemiologic studies and address complex research questions considering lab-based and data-driven evidence. Often, my students belong to various academic, regional, and racial backgrounds, and I have always provided them with an inclusive and welcoming learning environment. Teaching is all about empowering others to perform tasks independently. For that, I believe that a tutor first should understand students' learning goals and challenges and then develop a teaching strategy to facilitate students to achieve their goals efficiently.

Genetics

I am currently a Ph.D. candidate specializing in Molecular Epidemiology, Microbiology, and Molecular Genetics, studying infectious diseases. I have a master's in epidemiology and am a certified doctor of veterinary medicine (DVM). I have finished many multi-disciplinary research projects and have taught undergraduate and graduate-level courses such as fundamentals of genetics, molecular genetics tools in and application in research, microbial genetics, etc. One of my favorite courses, Fundamentals of Genetics, is an advanced-level course prerequisite for premedical students. During this course, I taught both lectures and recitations, prepared and evaluated students' exams. I held office hours for students and worked with them individually to address their questions and difficulties in learning concepts. Besides, I have experience teaching genetics and microbiology-related courses to students from different academic backgrounds such as chemistry, physics, and computer science majors. I always try my best to effectively convey essential concepts and the basics of the subject matter to all students. Having diverse professional and academic training helps me facilitate students to understand lessons and course contents in depth. I always use practical examples to give students a broader overview of knowledge and its implementations in scientific projects to learn things efficiently. I believe that teaching is all about empowering others to perform tasks independently.

Best Epidemiology Tutor

Halfway through the semester my grades in my epidemiology class went from Bs to Fs. I reached out to Azam and he helped me right away. My grades went back up immediately, and I passed the course with an 84%. Azam's explanations really helped me understand things I didn't think I would ever be able to understand. He was excellent at interpreting my requests and was flexible with my schedule. I would highly recommend him, he's one of the best tutors I have ever had.

Really thorough and encouraging tutor!

Azam was really good at ensuring I understood the material we went over really well as we went through it, which was super helpful! He quizzed me on the important concepts so they really stuck with me, and he summarized the main points we talked about at the end in a really clear way.

Thank you Azam

Azam is a fantastic tutor. He is very knowledgeable and has experience in diverse academic research. . I had a perfect session with Azam; we discussed the best strategies for designing a research and drafting an outline for a full-length research article. I found him very encouraging and patient in answering my variety of medical research-based questions. I will highly recommend his services to anyone who needs help with research projects and biomedical science subjects.

Goes above and beyond

Azam has been probably my best Wyzant tutor experience thus far. I had an important assignment for my graduate-level epidemiology class that I was confused about. Azam took the time to meticulously peruse my work and gave extensive explanations for gaps in my understanding. He broke it down in a way that was easy to understand. He is a very kind, encouraging, and patient tutor. He even offered to follow-up on my assignment when I was done revising my work after our tutoring session. He is extremely knowledgeable and has an amazing work ethic. Really grateful he was willing to work with me on short-notice. I look forward to working with him again and would recommend him to anyone.
