Hello! I'm Tanner, a fourth-year medical student at the UT Southwestern Medical Center, where I have been inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha and Gold Humanism Honor Societies. Prior to medical school, I graduated summa cum laude from Brigham Young University with a degree in economics. Hello! I'm Tanner, a fourth-year medical student at the UT Southwestern Medical Center, where I have been inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha and Gold Humanism Honor Societies. Prior to medical school, I graduated summa cum laude from Brigham Young University with a degree in economics. I scored a 525 (132/131/130/132) on the MCAT, and for the last three years, I was an MCAT instructor and tutor for Blueprint Test Prep, where I personally worked with 600+ students in both virtual classroom and one-on-one settings. As one of Blueprint's top instructors, I also provided training for other instructors. In fact, over 80% of Blueprint's current instructors were trained by me!

The MCAT can be a difficult exam, but we can make it much easier through two basic principles: Rapid and efficient accumulation of the required knowledge, and a comprehensive ability to apply the appropriate strategies to each passage and question. My entire teaching philosophy is built upon these two principles, and my students and I stick to them! Rapid accumulation of knowledge means that most of my students know everything they need for the MCAT in about 6 weeks. Efficient accumulation of knowledge means that students study the proper amount to understand and remember everything, but not more than this. All of this is possible through lessons focused on fundamental principles and appropriate spaced repetition. Learning to apply the right strategies will let you take a look at a question and know exactly how to get to the right answer. This is by far the most valuable skill I can teach my MCAT students, and thankfully, it does not require very long to teach it! Many of my students can achieve a total and complete understanding of all the necessary strategies within just a few hours of our time together.

Experienced Tutor w/ Dynamic Approach

As my test date rapidly approaches, I have been looking for a MCAT tutor, and am so grateful to have stumbled upon Tanner! He is not only extremely knowledgeable on the subject matter, but on the structure of the exam and learning theory as well. He knows how to break down complex concepts into simple terms and extrapolate the most pertinent information. In only a few sessions he has solidified my understanding of topics that I have struggled to conceptualize for years. Each tutoring session is dynamic and catered to strengthening your trouble spots, from tricky content to test-taking strategies to passage-reading approaches. Amazing MCAT Tutor!!!

Tanner is everything I was looking for in an MCAT tutor. He is a genius when it comes to the MCAT, both in terms of his content knowledge and knowledge of the exam itself. With Tanner I have learned CARS strategies, discussed study tactics and resources, created a study plan (and adapted it as my own timeline changed), and have asked hundreds of content-related questions (all of which he can answer on the spot off the top of his head). Whatever MCAT related help you need, Tanner can do it! It is very obvious that he has a strong tutoring background and understanding of the MCAT exam itself. He is also super responsive and flexible.
