I'm Patrick. I have a Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) degree from the University of Portland, with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, also earned at the University of Portland with a History Minor. As you can see, I have explored a wide variety of subjects throughout my education, but History is the one I found most interesting and the one I decided to pursue as a high school teacher. I taught a variety of social studies courses at the High School level, including AP World History, and got to teach a wide range of students across many grade levels.

One of the key lessons I learned as a high school teacher was that I had to make what I was teaching feel relevant to the students. I had to help them explore connections between lessons and ask deeper questions about history. As a tutor, I aim to help students with not only retaining all of this knowledge but how to enrich their own understanding of history beyond the classroom. I believe that if I can help my students realize how relevant these historical figures and events are then they will be easier to study and comprehend.

I am very good at meeting the needs of my students. My method is a combination of teaching material, combined with practice and then discussion of the content we review. I am good at helping my students create study plans so they can do the best they can on examinations and key assessments.
