I have always loved doing Mathematics and enjoy helping others to understand it better. I began tutoring around 1985 when I began college. From 1985 to 1988, I tutored at SUNY New Paltz and Dutchess Community College. I helped college students learn Math for Elementary School Teachers, College Algebra, Geometry, Calculus 1, 2, and 3. I graduated in 1988 with an AA in Mathematics. I then was tutoring through the Arlington School District as a Home Teacher until 1994. Students who could not go to school I taught them all their subjects at their homes. The students ranged from 1st to 12th grade. In 1994 I moved to Arizona and was a Private Tutor for Math students in Sedona. In 1995 to 1996 I lived in Alaska. I also did Private tutoring there in Mathematics. One of my students was enrolled at the University of Alaska at Fairbanks. I tutored him in Differential Equations.

When I returned to NY in 1996, I resumed work as a Home Teacher for the Arlington School District for another 2 years plus continued to tutor Mathematics as a Private Tutor. I enjoy helping students understand math better. I try to create problems related to my students' interests to make math easier to relate to and also fun to learn. I especially find it gratifying when I am able to help students increase their math grades.

I was a straight A student in Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Calculus 1, Calculus 2, Calculus 3, Differential Equations, and Physics 1 & 2. I earned an Associates of Arts degree in Mathematics from Dutchess Community College in Poughkeepsie, NY with a GPA of 3.93. I also earned a BA in Psychology (minor Anthropology) from State University of New York (SUNY) at New Paltz (Magna Cum Laude Honors).

Currently I am tutoring students in Prealgebra, Algebra 1 & 2, Geometry, Precalculus, and SAT/ACT/GED Prep (Math section only). I wish to make Math easy to understand and enjoyable for others.

Algebra 2,

Algebra 2

I have tutored many students over the years in Algebra 2 both in New York State and around the US via online platforms. Algebra is one of my favorite subjects. I enjoy helping students get a better understanding of the material.
SAT Math,

SAT Math

I have helped prepare students for both the PSAT and the SAT. I teach students the tips and tricks to do well on SAT Math because it is its own Math. Without good prep, most students do poorly or not as well as they expect even straight A Math students. It is because how the PSAT and SAT questions are worded and structured which is more based on logic and analytical skills. I have created a Tips and Tricks worksheet as well as Packets of questions so students learn to see patterns in SAT questions. With this knowledge, they don't get fooled by the traps in PSAT and SAT questions. Often students find the prep eye-opening. Many end up improving their math grades in school after they have learned the shortcuts from PSAT/SAT Math prep with my tutoring.

Excellent

Misha is an Excellent tutor. She takes her time and most importantly she cares about her students doing well. She makes learning complicated problems seem manageable and simple to understand. She shows how to work through every single problem the right way. We are thankful to have such a tutor, I just wish we had her years ago. You will not be disappointed.

grateful

It’s been great having Misha help my son get through some of his math troubles. He has gained confidence and is less anxious about math tests and quizzes since we have had her help. He already received his first A in math after one lesson and some review with his dad. It’s been a weight off of our shoulders.

Patient, Kind and Knowledgeable Tutor!

Misha is a phenomenal tutor! My son who is in 7th grade did not like math at all. He absolutely hated it. Misha was able to break down the problems for him to understand better, which gave him more confidence to want to do math. Also Misha is extremely patient. Anytime my son quite doesn't understand something she is more than willing to go back over it with him, so he can grasp the proper understanding. You will not regret having Misha as a math tutor!

Misha was very patient and ready to explain the problems in detail.

Misha was very patient and ready to explain the problems in detail. she understands that everyone learns at their own pace. It was math I was having to study I took the test 3 times. and the last try missed it by 1 point. with frustration from not passing it. I felt I needed help. I knew some of the stuff. so I felt a tutor was the best fit for me. I came across Misha I liked her description of herself. and the picture of the dog. (Animal Lover) she was flexible. and at times had to re-show me how to figure out a equation. and not be upset that she was showing me again. I have to say I went to take the test. the first part you do not get to use a calculator. and the second part you do. the person to give my calculator. was busy visiting with a friend on the phone and told me I am not allowed to have it. when i went to get to it to use, the man said you are done. there is no more test. I was mortified. you only get one try in 6 months. I called to get it fixed And got the it could take 1 to 2 weeks to get a answer. so a couple hours go by. with great anticipation I thought I have to know my score. I go online and I so happy. I passed it without the calculator. and it was hard with the calculator. If she is that good to help me pass without a calculator. Than you would be at best interest to use this tutor.

Extremely Helpful and Patient

I appreciated how she clarified for me all of the concepts. I also appreciated how she worked out the problems so that I can take the notes home to review for the exam. I am going to use her services very soon!!
