I was a full-time classroom teacher from 2005-2021. I started my career teaching high school 7 years, then made the shift to teaching in a gifted and talented center middle school. I have been working remotely since 2020 and have left public education to seek remote teaching opportunities. I thoroughly love teaching, and specifically developed a passion for personalized learning. No two learners are the same, and no learning activity will have the same impact on all learners. I like to help students discover how they learn best and make connections to the real world and their real life.

In my time working at a gifted center, I became experienced with a wide range of learning disabilities. I have strategies to help students struggling with executive functioning, autism, dyslexia, dysgraphia, ADHD, testing anxiety, and many unique situations. My strength is making the learning work for the learner.

I have experience teaching and designing curriculum for courses including: Math 6, Prealgebra, Algebra, Geometry, Algebra 2, and Precalculus. Within these content bands I can help you by: monitoring their grade, working with classroom teacher, teaching concepts from multiple perspectives, assisting with homework, keeping students organized, identifying areas of strength and improvement, finding learning and assessment strategies that work for the student, encouraging them to be creative with math, and any other educational need.

Knowledge and patient tutor.

He helped my son in 10th grade prepare for his Algebra II Final that included: solving quadratic equations (by square roots, factoring or quadratic formula), solving exponential/radical equations and much more. He provided detailed explanations, asked questions to ensure my son understood, and offered notes after the lessons to recap the material. Charlie is a flexible tutor who tailors the lessons based on what my son was needing at the moment. He has a gentle, caring approach. My son dreaded the idea of a tutor, but wanted another session as soon as his 1st one ended. He highly recommends Charlie as a tutor!

My son wanted to prepare for Algebra1 during the holiday break before his school start date so that he stays ahead in the subject. Charlie was clear in terms of laying down the path/syllabus and explained his approach. He is very patient in explaining the concepts to my son and gives homework for practice. Checks for his school home work/test and also gives practice test to get him well prepped for his class test.My son likes his class very much. I recommend charlie for Algebra class.
