I graduated from high school in 2023, as the top 4th student in my class. I took on various AP, dual-enrollment, and honors courses throughout my high school career with remarkable academic standing. A few examples of my academic metrics would be: 4-AP Bio, 5-APUSH, 5-APWH, 5-AP Calculus, 5-AP Lang and Comp, 5-AP Psych, 5-AP Stats, 1460-SAT, and multiple A honor rolls in high school. I have received yearly awards for outstanding achievement in subjects including AP Calculus, AP Chemistry, AP Lang and Comp., and Algebra II. I was awarded for quarterly achievement for Chemistry Honors, Geometry, and Personal Finance. I recently obtained an EMT-B certification, and will be attending college for neuroscience. I aspire to continue my academic journey, and look forward to helping students along the way.
My tutoring journey began in sophomore year; my peers and I were entangled in the COVID-19 world, where social distancing made classes difficult. I began self-studying for courses, and went to teachers for office hours. Ascribed to this, I was able to solidify my understanding of the material and help my peers. Later that academic year, I began tutoring students as a volunteer via an online non-profit organization. I tutored students from then to the end of junior year, with gaps in between. The age groups I saw ranged from 7 to 15, and I taught chemistry, english (summer homework), geometry, and algebra. I continued peer tutoring in my junior and first half of senior year.
My tutoring method mainly consists of practice problems (active recall), visual aids, and specific questions rather than open-ended (unless it is necessary). I anticipate using flashcards for memorization purposes, as well. For english subjects, I believe sample essays and constructive criticism are optimal. Studying and learning can be fun! It's just a matter of trial and error and asking questions. I am here to answer those questions to the best of my ability.
