I love the English language. I find magic in the written word and don't want writing to become a lost art.
I was a working artist for over 25 years, exhibiting my work at Universities and other venues throughout the western United States.
I have been a published author for over 15 years. My work has been published in numerous magazines, I currently having a children's book on the market. At this time I am working with an agent and editor on a major book about the animal sanctuary I run.
For the past few years, my stories and essays have been published in Southern Arizona newspapers under the heading "The Animals We Live With."
I began drawing as well as writing poetry and prose at a very early age. I encourage kids to write about the areas they are most interested in, to write as though they were simply speaking to a friend or family member. I also stress the importance of reading in order to become familiar with the written word.
Drawing is the basis for all visual art. I have worked in and can teach various media (charcoal, pencil, pen and ink etc.) and encourage working from life as well as from imagination.
