Positive and Encouraging

Having Joy tutor my son has been such an amazing experience. She has a positive attitude and such a great rapport with my high school sophomore who detested math because it was difficult for him to grasp all the concepts. Joy has been so patient, knowledgeable, and has multiple ways of explaining a mathematical equation/ concept, to find the ideal learning technique for my son. The confidence and self esteem Joy has inspired and instilled in my son goes well beyond the educational scope. It has transcended into his daily life, outside the classroom as well. Having Joy as a tutor on a permanent basis has allowed my son to establish respect as well as develop a student/ teacher friendship. Joy is always reliable and punctual, and is always a pleasure to have in our home. Joy has been the best decision I have made for my son's Math education.

We've only had a few sessions, but in speaking with Joy before our first session--she understands how to help my child. He says "she's fine", which is a high compliment. She's made deals with him to get him to participate more with helping himself during school and increasing responsibility. He's in 6th grade and needs help with everything--I think Joy is a great match for us.

I had to take a college entrance exam for a second degree some 30 years after my last math class. Knowing I would be rusty, I hired Joy to help me study. She was excellent. Very patient, knew subject matter well and taught me all the shortcuts to do the problems quicker. She even came back a second day because I was too tired to complete the whole session in one day after flying in late the night before. She is a very skilled teacher with public school experience. I would wholeheartedly recommend her. Thanks to Joy, I passed my test the afternoon after she left and felt well prepared!
