I attended a rigorous elementary school, Challenger School before Castilleja School in Palo Alto. During Challenger, we underwent daily morning drills in math, spelling, grammar, language arts, social studies, and science. Challenger successfully imparted foundational skills that led to my success in junior high. At my previous agency, I have had two years of experience working with K-6th graders in the Palo Alto, Woodside, Los Altos, and Portola Valley districts. I have expertise in diverse subjects including math, English, science, and social studies, and my goal is to inspire the child to embrace learning, achieve a solid foundation in subjects including spelling and math, and solidify their organizational and study skills. I love children and cultivate the most fun, supportive learning environment as possible. I use visual, audio, and kinesthetic teaching techniques, and employ flash cards, such as Quizlet, and mnemonics to help the students learn basic vocabulary and mathematics, as well as grammar. It would be a pleasure to teach K-6th and impart to them all the knowledge and study habits I acquired from my K-6th experience.

I enjoy tutoring kids in study skills, including time management, prioritization, todo lists, deadlines, procrastination, and planning a strategy for completing essays and long-term projects. In high school, I enjoyed assisting friends in humanities and math/science subjects. I love helping my classmates and friends achieve a solid grasp of a particular subject and gaining greater confidence in their study, test-taking, and general academic abilities. I am skilled at note-taking, brainstorming, proofreading, and writing papers. I love advising students with online resources, stressing the importance of starting work early, and breaking long papers into chunks. My favorite motto is "divide and conquer."

Professional and Caring

My daughter was applying several top private schools for 2017 school year. We only have 6 months to prepare. It was an extremely short time for such application. I found Ms. Hannah from Wyzant. I tried to ask her to my daughter school application consultant. It was very difficult to get a slot from her schedule because she is always busy with too many students. I finally got a slot and she became my daughter’s interview and reading comprehension advisor. Professional: As a specialized private high school application consultant, Hannah is very professional. Every session is well organized and detailed oriented. Although she is fully book with many clients/student, she is fully aware of every student’s strength and weakness, in turn, she did lots preparation to provide individual plan for each student. She also gave my daughter very valuable ideas and reading list for her preparation. Not only she has very strong knowledge in the field, her own background (Castilleja/Stanford graduation) is also the strongest testimony to her students. That gave my daughter a convincing reason to not only following her instruction but also to work with her on preparing her application. Caring: Ms. Hannah treats hers student not just as a customer, but really views them as part of her family. She shares all her students’ feeling. She would kindly encourage my daughter when my daughter was not speaking out her own thoughts. She cheered with tears when she learned my daughter was admitted by one top private school. We really enjoyed working Ms. Hannah through my daughter’s application process. I’d say it’d be impossible for my daughter to get into the top school in such a short preparation time period without her help! Thank you again, Ms. Hannah!

Very knowledgeable tutor

Hannah is wonderful showing my son how to brainstorm and write a good essay. She is also very patient and devoted her time to help editing. She also added a lot of resources and recommendations for us to go beyond my son’s application process. We are very happy with her and will definitely use her when we need her expertise.

Above and Beyond Tutor

For the past several years, Hannah has tutored my daughter in math, algebra, and ISEE test prep. She is exceptional at what she does and goes above and beyond to take care of "her kids." My daughter was tackling an advanced level in math and was struggling to score well. Just one session with Hannah before her test helped her score almost full marks. She has taught my daughter in the following subjects: ISEE (quantitative reasoning, mathematics achievement, reading comprehension, verbal reasoning), pre-algebra, algebra 1 and 2, expository essays, time management, and how to study and laser focus with 100% concentration. Hannah not only teaches the concepts in detail but also recommends methods, educational tools, and study habits that can really make a difference. She is knowledgeable of ALL the best resources available to adolescents and makes herself generously available prior to tests and exams. She has been an invaluable mentor to my daughter and to our family, and we cannot recommend her enough. With Hannah's mentoring, your child will be inspired to succeed and truly learn to strive for excellence in everything he/she does.

A passionate, intelligent admission consultant

Hannah has always been able to deliver results and exceed expectations consistently. Last year we hired Hannah as my young son's admission consultant for private school. She helped him navigated through application process. She was very familiar with the process and she was very good at discovering the best thing out of my son. She made him standing out among very strong competition. Hannah delivered result again this year. She helped my 10th grade daughter accepted into a highly competitive summer school. This summer school's acceptance rate is 15% and average SAT score is 2200. Because my daughter has mediocre GPAs and has no SAT test score, I didn't expect she ever had a chance to be accepted. Hannah not only successfully guided her through her application process but also inspired her to become mature individual through this process. Hannah is a very effective coach with creative thinking and unique approaches. She is a perfectionist and get the job done perfectly. 200% recommended!!
