Hello! My name is Charles. Math, Physics and Engineering are my main areas and I have a solid record of success helping students as a tutor. Many have improved by two grade points. My doctoral degree is in Mechanical Engineering from Virginia Tech where I won a prestigious award from ASME for my dissertation work. I am patient, easy going and enjoy helping students succeed. My experience includes having had the privilege to teach a number of ME classes: Thermodynamics, System Dynamics, Heat Transfer, Vibrations. I have also taught Fluid Mechanics including Fluid Dynamics, Statics and Senior Lab and tutored extensively in Quantum Mechanics, Differential Equations, PDE's i.e. Partial Differential Equations, Calculus including Vector Calculus, Statistics and Statistical Mechanics.

Over my years of tutoring experience, I have found that the path to best results is to help the student with strategies for thinking and problem solving. An important aspect of this is to help the student to break down the subject at hand into simpler concepts, which in turn enables the student to better grasp ideas and work practice problems. With my knowledge and experience, I am able to lead the student to an understanding of the main concepts and techniques of a challenging topic, while helping the student avoid the pitfalls.

I look forward to helping you!

Statistics,

Statistics

Statistics is one of the topics a lot of science majors encounter, myself included. In my work I often utilize statistics concepts in presenting data in scientific papers that I write. Recently, I have had the pleasure of helping a number of students in this area. One student needed a statistics course to get his degree in Geography, but had failed two times previously. He told me he was about ready to give up. With my help he passed the class and got his degree!

Incredible Tutor

As someone who was often too stubborn to seek out a tutor, I can say the the way Charles and I worked through practice problems and the way he was able to guide me through problem solving strategy has changed my outlook for the better. If and when I need any more assistance, he’s the guy to go to.
