I am a certified English teacher (7-12th). I became a teacher after I was a literacy volunteer in my local community. I enjoyed working with my ESL students and made the decision to become a teacher.

I am an adjunct college professor and teach principles of psychology and developmental psychology. I hold a Master's Degree in Educational Psychology which allows me to incorporate various learning styles into my tutoring sessions. Each tutoring session is custom-designed for the student. I tutor on a one-on-one basis and feel that students learn best this way.

I have been a tutor for over seven years now, both with tutoring companies (Sylvan Learning Center and Educational Services Center), as well as individually. I am a certified SAT teacher with Sylvan Learning Center and have been an SAT and ACT instructor with Educational Services Center since 2013.

I tutor in English, writing, study skills, psychology, as well as math. I also have experience preparing students for the verbal portions of the SSAT and the ISSE.

Furthermore, I have prepared students for the verbal section of the SAT/ACT for the past several years. I give my students the tools needed to approach both of these tests - finding the main idea, answering inference questions, as well as answering questions involving vocabulary.

In addition, I review basic grammar skills with my students and discuss with them the type of errors that typically appear on the SAT/ACT. I also prepare them for the essay portion of the exam by discussing the steps they should take in writing the essay - brainstorming, taking a position, and supporting that position.

In the past, I taught English, including both reading and writing, to 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, and 11th graders.

I love watching students of all ages succeed and improve.

Great Tutor

I have to say, after bringing in several tutors to help our son, Sarah was a breath of fresh air. She was always punctual and was able to break down all the study material and aid not only in general knowledge but also in test taking techniques. I would definitely recommend Sarah to any student that is preparing for the SAT/ACT tests.
