Bio

I am passionate about helping students succeed. As a top tutor for Wyzant, I help with College Counseling (including personal statement brainstorming and application help), SAT Verbal (experienced in the digital version), and ACT English, Reading, and Science test prep. I provide support on college and grad school applications, including helping students formulate and craft their essays, draft their supplemental questions and create their activity lists and resumes.

I have worked with students of all ages - I have worked with students applying to prep school, students looking for academic help in English and/or History, juniors and seniors in high school, and college students who are applying to grad school (GRE and personal statement help). I also work quite often with students who have been granted extra time on their standardized tests. I also work with students on perfecting their resumes and their cover letters as they begin their career search.

I was an English major at Yale and loved to write. After three years in finance, I chose to return to school and received an MBA from Columbia. I worked in the corporate world in marketing/finance and then as an entrepreneur, where I did quite a bit of business writing. I have been working as a tutor for over five years and recently moved out of state so I am now building my business through online tutoring.

I have worked with students on time management, reading strategy, and grammar. I have developed worksheets for the subjects I teach so that my students can review the worksheets prior to the test so that they feel more prepared.

I have worked with over 100 students on test prep and college counseling-students who have sought careers in engineering, those who wanted to go into business and those who needed extra time on their tests. They have all been accepted to their choice of schools. Junior year in high school should be about exploration, not a time of stress. I work hard to build confidence in my students and make them feel comfortable.

Becky cares. I don’t know how to rate “caring” bc that is what makes the difference. There are tutors who help, there are more who massage their own ego - but then there is Becky.
