Psychology & Statistics Nerd at Your Service

Hi, and thanks for your interest! I'm Jennifer, a student in the graduate program in Social Psychology at Claremont Graduate University. I've been studying psychology and statistics for the past seven years, because I actually love those subjects that much. I know, it's weird. My nerdiness can be really helpful to you, though, since the best teachers are the ones who are enthusiastic about their subjects. In particular, the courses I'd be best suited for tutoring are: -Introductory Psycholog...

Jennifer is amazing. She is very knowledgeable and it is an absolute joy working with her. Jennifer demonstrates the character and qualities that you look for in a tutor.

I have had tutors in the past who would help me try to get an assignment done or explain a concept more clearly in order for me to comprehend. Jennifer is the first tutor I have ever had the pleasure of working with who had the ability to be patient and give clear and practical analogies in order for me to really better understand very confusing concepts. She shows interest and excitement in the subject and is obviously knowledgeable. But, what I really appreciated about her was her passion. When we ran into a problem that the instructor gave, which was very vague in his notes, she showed tremendous effort making sure to find out the answer and then explaining it to me in a way that I can easily understand. She "spoke my language." She made me feel comfortable understanding a subject that made me feel "dumb". Another important note is great time management. Where other tutors wasted time off tangents and I ended up learning things I didn't want or need to know, Jennifer kept right on topic and focused on what I wanted and needed to learn. This was the first time I didn't worry about the money per hour! If anything, I was the one who always extended our time because I was enjoying that time and felt very productive. Overall, very personable and easy to get along with. Professional yet fun!

I was in good hands regarding Jennifer's knowledge of SPSS statistics for my research paper and her knowledge of APA formatting. She even taught me a few things about Microsoft Word. My expectations were exceeded!!!

Each session with Jennifer is very productive. I'm learning and understanding each subject touched during the meetings. All my questions Re: Introductory Psychology are well explained.

Andrea E. from Chino Hills, CA

She taught me SPSS and had patience with me, she helped me with my final graduate project for my capstone. She helped score my variables, collapse them and run a multi regression model for them. So happy I found her!!

Ruth F. from Hacienda Heights, CA

I was lost on my homework but she thoroughly explained the lesson and I passed my homework modules with a 95% and 97%.

Ashley M. from Glendora, CA

Jennifer is an excellent tutor. She taught me how to use excel to solve my homework problems dealing with probability equations, t tests, and Anova's. I liked that she wanted to make sure I understood the problem before going forward and used different examples for me to try and relate to in order to understand the material.

Nicole R. from Glendora, CA

Jennifer explained the content in a way that helped me understand and apply the concepts. She is very approachable and patient as well.

Thanks for tutoring me on stress, personality psychology, and social psychology, Seyle's general adaptation syndrome, some trait theories of personality psych (like Costa & McCrae's Big Five), heritability, reliability and validity, compliance strategies like the foot-in-the-door and door-in-the-face techniques, Rosenthal and Jacobsen's study on the self-fulfilling prophecy (called Pygmalion in the Classroom), and the difference between stereotypes, prejudice, and discrimination.
