Amelia

Young, passionate Special Educator with experience and flexibility! :)

Hello! My name is Amelia and I am a certified General Education Teacher and Special Education Teacher for K-6. I grew up in Claremont, went to college in San Francisco where I studied Liberal Studies with an emphasis in language and communication before I moved to New Orleans through Teach for America. My experience includes 7 years teaching and working with children diagnosed with Autism, intellectual disability, physical disability, visual impairment (blind), English language learner, emotional disturbance, reading/mathematics learning disabilities, speech impairment, traumatic brain injury, development delay, down syndrome, ADD/ADHD, and other health impairments. While working in New Orleans, I taught in three different settings - inclusion for students with mild intellectual needs or behavioral needs, resource (small group interventions) for students with moderate learning disabilities or more extreme behavioral needs, and self contained for students with significant cognitive, functional and physical disabilities. I am certified to teach all subjects for general education but my passion is truly accommodating and teaching those with Special Needs. Additionally, I am currently finishing my TEFL certification and am semi-fluent in Spanish.
