I am currently working with an 8 year-old autistic student. I have worked with other students on the Autism spectrum over the past 20 years, and have found that my gifts in simple lessons, firm but loving teaching style, and organization have made for very productive results. I have training in Lindamood-Bell literacy, and additional hours in Special Education which also have helped my tutoring.
ADD/ADHD
My graduate level training includes 6 credits in special education. I have worked for 20 years motivating and inspiring students who have learning issues related to ADD/ADHD. We work on organization, planning both long and short term, and family support and independence. Students have shown marked improvement by having the support and scaffolding of a tutor to help them manage the challenges of these learning issues. I employ a number of strategies, which differ for each student, building on successes as we move forward.
