I am a certified and experienced classroom teacher and tutor with specialties in math (K-12) – and - learning differences (gifted, ADHD, Aspergers, Autism, etc.). Proven track record: fast improvement of grades at school, high EOCT scores and “placement” at nationally recognized math competition. I am a strong supporter of my students. I understand their math stress and help them overcome it and actually LIKE math. I use a multi-modality methodology so each student learns and understands ...

ADD/ADHD

I am a certified teacher with credentials in EMH/TMH/PMH, LD/ADHD, low-incidence handicaps/ASD. I have had several years experience teaching and working with individuals with LD/ADHD both in the classroom and in individual settings. My personal strategy is to work in conjunction with established programs to help the student clearly define his/her goals and strategies for accomplishment. The strategies may include improving academic skills, organization skills, awareness of learning modalities, test taking skills, and many others. My personal approach is to try to encourage the students to remain consistent in implementing strategies for success.

Aspergers

I am a certified teacher with credentials in EMH/TMH/PMH, LD/ADHD, low-incidence handicaps/ASD. I have had several years experience teaching and working with individuals with Asperger’s syndrome and HFA both in the classroom and in individual settings. My approach to working with ASD/HFA is to understand and respect each student for his/her individuality. Instruction is usually more effective when it is related to the student’s interests. As many ASD/HFA students have a great deal of insight into the subject matter and their own challenges, it is often helpful to give the student opportunities for self expression. My personal approach is to work with parents and caregivers to clearly define the goals and to try to gain insight into new strategies to supplement those already in place by the existing school programs.

ASVAB

autism

I am a certified teacher with credentials in EMH/TMH/PMH, LD/ADHD, low-incidence handicaps/ASD. I have had several years experience teaching and working with individuals with classic autism both in the classroom and in individual settings. My belief is that to be successful working with autistic individuals, it is critical to work hand-in-hand with the parents and caregivers. As routines and preferences must usually remain uniform, it is important to be cognizant and respectful of this. My personal approach is one of calm predictability. I believe in the goal of overcoming social and sensory mal-adaptations while being empathetic with the individual trying to overcome them.

Michelle is very kind, patient, and knowledgeable. I was a bit nervous trying to find a tutor online, but I couldn't be happier. Michelle made a fast connection with my middle school daughter and has been fabulous about keeping me informed of the details of their sessions. It's obvious that she truly cares about children and thoroughly enjoys tutoring. My daughter and I are very pleased.

Michelle did an in-depth session with my daughter covering the beginning material of an algebra 1 course. She took the time to explain the basics so that my daughter had a good foundation to begin an independent study of that course. Michelle was also very helpful and teaching my daughter methods for independent studying. Thank you Michelle! My daughter looks forward to working with you again!
