I have professional experience working with children with special needs. I have taken a number of courses in creative teaching methods to make learning interesting for children who have trouble focusing. I have been trained to utilize methods outside of the traditional lecture, model, memorize methods to help students learn in a new, more unconventional way. I incorporate visual effects, projects, and even costumes to keep students focused and make learning more enjoyable.

While I have worked with several students with developmental delays, I am specifically trained as an ABA/ABL Skills tutor. Presently I am employed with working with children with Autism to bridge the gap in learning and address behavioral issues. I have successfully modified problematic behaviors through applied behavioral analysis using the DTT method to develop children. With DTT intervention, many children diagnosed with autism go on to lead perfectly normal, fulfilling lives.

Lauriel is an awesome tutor! Lauriel is very easy to correspond with and she is quick with her responses if you have any concerns or questions. Lauriel takes the time to work with my daughter and is very throughout with her lessons. My daughter is very pleased with what she has learned compared to her first tutor who only knew half of the materials. Lauriel is such a great tutor. She is tutoring my 16 year old son for the SAT English, Reading, Writing and the ACT. From the very first session she was able to captivate my son's attention right from the very start. This was amazing considering he was not initially thrilled about seeing a tutor.
