Astrid

Uplifting and Knowledgeable- your multi-faceted tutor!

Hi! Thank you for wanting to do better in school. I have been happily tutoring for almost 6 years and generally teach elementary to high school. I am fluent in Spanish, in addition to it being my minor in college. My major was a Science - based one, so I teach mostly Science, Spanish, and Math. Because not everybody is the same, I like tailoring the learning interaction to the learning style of my student. Having been a coach to kids in school, I have a love for inspiring. Patience is key...

Astrid has been working with my 13 year old daughter over the past few months on math and some Spanish. She is patient, clear and kind. My daughter really likes her. Astrid was an integral part of her late turnaround at the end of the last school year and we have continued to use her services over the summer in preparation for 8th grade math. We highly recommend her!

I am currently preparing for the GMAT, and I couldn't have asked for a better coach than Astrid. Right away she made me feel comfortable with my understanding of the core concepts and never stopped encouraging me to push myself forward. Our meetings were casual, fun and relaxed, but super focused and challenging. I have come a long way in the last 5 weeks or so, and I couldn't have done it without her.

Astrid has been tutoring my 13 year old son for over a year now. It is amazing how she tutors so brilliantly in almost every subject, Math, English, Science and Spanish. A true professional, always on time and easy to reach. My son adores her, and has increased his GPA almost a full letter grade due to her dedication and understanding. A real gem!

I'm a second year Harvard student and have studied Spanish as part of my curriculum. Astrid has tutored me in this subject and has been an amazing help. Her command of the language and her ability to present grammar in an understandable and easy to retain manner has been exemplary. She encourages conversational skill in a fun and relaxed way. She has great patience and a cheerfulness that has helped me get through the hardest of lessons. I highly recommend her to anyone trying to learn Spanish at any level.

Let me just start off by saying that I'm a court reporter (stenographer) and my job is all about grammar and punctuation. When I got out of school and got my first job as a stenographer, I was recommended by my teacher and boss to get a tutor for grammar. Throughout my years in high school and even elementary, I didn't have an ounce of grammar. I found this website and looked at my tutors. I e-mailed a bunch of them and came across Astrid. She was very prompt and patient explaining how she tutors, which is what I needed. Mind you, I was starting from the beginners level of grammar and my whole career depended on it. I met with Astrid and we continued my tutoring sessions for about a year. She is the most patient, smart, kind tutor you'll meet. She explains things in many different ways until you understand it. My schedule at the time of tutoring was very hectic, and she went out of her way to accommodate my needs. All in all, Astrid is amazing. If it wasn't for her, I wouldn't have been able to be in the career that I'm in. I can't thank her enough for the knowledge she's given to me. I'll recommend her to anyone that's looking for a tutor. It's not an easy job teaching people having difficulties with learning something specific. She went out of her way to make sure I understood what she was saying even if she had to say it 100 different ways! I highly, highly recommend Astrid!!

First day was pretty good. Everything went well very and Astride was patient, I will admit to that. Then the second day we were supposed to meet at 10 a.m., but she was late. I waited 10 minutes but still no show. Then the third time we met for only 15 minutes, which was pointless. We also didn't get to the point of what I was actually trying to learn. Overall an, alright tutor.

Astrid has really helped our 10-year-old daughter identify the areas where she needs the most work and has given her the tools to improve. For instance, now when she is faced with a multi step word problem in her homework, she approaches it with more confidence and is better able break down the problem into parts and figure out on her own how to solve each step.
