Specializing in Learning Disabilities

I have been a teacher and leader in education for many years. I have had the privilege of working with youth from many backgrounds and with many talents and challenges. I love teaching, because it helps me to learn new things everyday as I explore with my students. I truly believe that every individual was born to this earth for a purpose, and as a teacher, I am able to help them explore and be the best that they can be. ADD/ADHD

I worked for 11 years teaching learning disabled youth at the Lab School of Washington and 2 years at Kingsbury Day School in Washington, DC. Both of these institutions are private schools for learning disabled youth. I worked with youth with ADD/ADHD, Asbergers, and Dyslexia. They needed remediation in reading, writing, and math skills.

Aspergers

I worked for 13 years in private institutions for teaching disabled youth. During that time, I worked with numerous children who had Aspergers syndrome. There were also youth who ranged in severity on the autism spectrum. When working with individuals with Aspergers, it is especially important to identify their special interests and their triggers. Special interests can be utilized to help students excel in academic areas and to shine within the classroom. Throughout my career, I have been able to build trust in students who exhibit Aspergers syndrome and help them to excel academically and socially.

Sarah M. from Finksburg, MD

Peggy has had three sessions with my son so far in preparation for a mid-term math exam. She has been prompt for all scheduled lessons and we even clambered through an online session due to the snow. Very happy so far.

Francine M. from Baltimore, MD

Margaret is a very patient and innovative tutor. She is able to discern the obstacles to learning for her student and overcome them, which allows the student to get the most out of the lesson. She genuinely cares about her students and is willing to go the extra mile for her student's benefit. I would strongly recommend Margaret.
