I have over 18 years of experience working with children as young as 1 years old for their early intervention program, elementary-high school students creating and following their IEPs, young adults preparing for college and adults with daily living skills. I have worked in public schools in special day classes, regular classroom with mainstreaming, non-public schools just for students on the spectrum and residential programs for special needs. I have worked will all levels of of autism from non-verbal and physically self- abusive to high-level Aspergers. I have run social skills groups and lunch groups focusing on conversational skills and eating disorders. I use communication systems from PECS to IPads and create social stories and charts for all activities of daily living. I have taken many courses on autism and attended several conferences by Michelle Garcia-Winner. My focus on carry-over of therapy skills is addressed by working with the team which includes the family, PT, OT, teacher, school staff to address all goals in all settings.

I have a "whole person" approach, integrating their IEP, classroom peers and teacher, family and community and incorporating the student's interests and strengths to promote success. My strengths are in executive function and organizational skills which is highly needed in this population.
