Patient and Understanding Former High School Math Teacher

TUTORING PHILOSOPHY Having taught over 1000 high school students while teaching math at St. Michael's Catholic Academy, I have found that each student, regardless of age (middle school, high school or even post-secondary) is a unique person who has their own learning style. The key to successful learning via tutoring is to identify that style and use it motivate the student to gain knowledge. There are two major components to my teaching style: whenever possible: 1. provide more than on...

My background in statistics began in the 1990s when I wrote two articles on how statistics should be used in my field of process control of ion implantation in the semiconductor manufacturing industry. These were published in international industry conference proceedings. That interested me enough to create and teach a one-day adult short course in statistics. I was fortunate enough to teach this course all over the U.S. via the American Vacuum Society for five years. Students included technicians, engineers, other industry professionals, and one statistics professor. I then taught Advanced Placement Statistics at St. Michael's Catholic Academy for four years.

Heather R. from Austin, TX

Brought my daughters math test grade (Pre-Algebra) from a C to an A in the span of 2 weeks. She now has a B in Math, heading toward an A average. Excellent tutor for the money. Very prompt and meticulous.

Riley M. from Austin, TX

Our son was very reluctant to agree to having tutoring sessions. I believe this was our 3rd session with Chuck. We feel like our son might have had a breakthrough realizing the value of tutoring sessions. Pleased with how things are going in math. Moving onto some English tutoring in the next session(s).

Sam D. from Kyle, TX

Chuck knows his material and has a good way of illustrating the concepts with different ways to work the problems.

NIna M. from Austin, TX

Chuck did a great job working with my daughter. I would not hesitate recommending him to others. He was very responsive with short notice.

Karl A. from Dripping Springs, TX

I was very pleased with my initial meeting. He was prompt and very straight forward. He took the time to understand where my son is at and what challenges he is currently facing then jumped right in. I look forward to future sessions. I think we are in good hands.

Jennifer B. from Austin, TX

Chuck is helping my son pass his electrical engineering final. He has worked through the concepts step by step until my son truly understands it. Even if it takes time, he is very patient and lets him think it out, gently encouraging and not pushy.

Colleen B. from Austin, TX

Chuck is accommodating and understands that life throws curveballs sometimes. He is patient, easy going and flexible. But the best part about Chuck is his ability to personalize tutoring and connect with students where they are -- at their confidence level, their anxiety level and their interest level. Chuck quickly analyzes the student's style, pace and personality. He connected with my daughter immediately and shared his story to connect with her. There is no doubt Chuck cares about the student's outcome and the role he plays in that. My daughter passed her ASVAB test with a score we hadn't dreamed of... we know Chuck had a big impact on that success and we appreciate his contribution to this life changing event for my daughter!

Tc W. from Austin, TX

Chuck really helped our Sophomore grasp some Algebra II concepts that he needed to improve before an upcoming final. We look forward to meeting with Chuck again!
