Study Polish, German, Russian or Czech with an experienced PhD

I have extensive experience teaching foreign languages, writing and history. My specializations are Eastern European languages and history, and I also work with foreign languages every day as a translator. The nineteen years I spent living in Poland and Slovakia have allowed me to perfect my Polish and Slovak (both at C2 level). I have taught Polish at the University of Washington and the Polish Cultural Center in Seattle, as well as Polish to English translation at the University of Warsa...

Overall, Christina is quite patient and is able to anticipate and answer any/all questions I may have. She is exceedingly relaxed and open to any methods that best help me. In addition, she has an ABUNDANCE of literature, films, and music related to the topic and creates entertaining ways for me to learn the language. Amazing tutor.

So far we have covered pronunciation, gender cases, inflection, common phrases and handwriting. Christina is very patient while covering basic grammar rules and can always explain in depth when I have a question. She has given me many helpful learning resources that allow me to immerse myself in the Russian culture. Wonderful Tutor!

I hired Christina to help me learn a Polish blessing for my family's Christmas Eve dinner. We've only had one session together, but I can't say enough positive things about the experience. From the minute she first got in touch with me she was earnestly interested in my story and my needs. Before the lesson, she contacted a native-Polish friend to help her prepare several authentic traditional prayers for me to choose from, even taking the time to take into account the region from whence my family hails. During our phone session, she asked a lot of questions and made me more aware of and interested in the cultural background of what I had initially considered to be a simple recitation. While tutoring, Christina is fully engaged, friendly, and helpful. She was very careful with her praise and her corrections as well. She carefully adjusted her home environment to improve the sound quality of our conversation, and after the session sent me recordings of herself reciting the prayer we chose. She only charged me for our phone conversation, which lasted about 45 minutes, but she must have done at least 2 hours of work between preparing for the lesson and creating resources for me after the fact. Christina is hard-working, patient, fun, and effective. I can't recommend her enough!

Once again, having a lesson with Christina is a pleasure. She is incredibly helpful and dedicated to her students, going above and beyond to make sure that they are engaged in the material and learning in multiple ways. She works with me using the textbook and also provides movies, music, books, and other material to help me dive as deeply into the language as possible.
