Having been a general education teacher in an inclusion setting for the past 10 years, I have experience with autistic students. I have also sat in on many IEP meetings and addressed the specific modifications necessary for autistic students. Many students with special needs have a different way of learning and it's important as a teacher to differentiate my lesson to address these needs.
ADD/ADHD
I have worked with children who have ADD/ADHD in the classroom setting for 14 years. Through the help of an inclusion teacher, I was able to implement modifications specific to each child's learning needs. I also attended numerous IEP meetings where I was asked to develop additional modifications to help support the academic progress of children with ADD/ADHD.
