Brian
I have devoted forty years to Latin and Greek!
My name is Brian P. Champlin. I am a native of Berkeley, California. Inspired by the Catholic Latin liturgy of my youth, I have devoted about forty years to the study of the Latin and Greek Classics. I did my undergraduate work at the University of California, Berkeley and my graduate work at Stanford University. Like a piano player who must devote time daily to the practice of his or her art, I try to read daily in both languages in order to stay in constant contact with a field that I l... Read more

Don
UCSD grad, credentialed English teacher, published author, editor
I had some issues with ADD as a young student, and my son had ADHD. My son went through the Orinda school system, which is very demanding academically. When I took my master’s degree in education, I did several research projects on ADD/ADHD and other learning disabilities. That knowledge helped me tremendously when teaching students who had those and other learning challenges. Being aware of those challenges and knowing how to adapt lessons and teaching modalities to accommodate them is a huge step in helping the student to succeed. Read more

Loving to Learn, Living to Teach!
Hey! My name is John, I'm a graduate of St. John's College in Santa Fe, New Mexico and, most recently, Zaytuna College in Berkeley, California. I love learning and teaching! My history with education has been mixed. Before the third grade, I was not able to read due to an undiagnosed eye problem. Luckily, I was seen by a school psychiatrist that noticed my difficulty with, "words flying off the pages," so that by the end of the third grade, after many hours of after-school tutoring, I ... Latin, Greek, History prof happy to tutor
I have been tutoring and teaching for 20 years, often with 6-8th graders. A large part of their learning is organization of notebooks, a regular study time, and forming good study skills. With so much experience teaching MS students, I think I have a good idea how to help improve the study skills of a early teenager. Read more
